Is This Tosca?
Giacomo Puccini/Victorien Sardou
Giacomo Puccini's opera Tosca has been transformed into a one-woman show by soprano Francis van Broekhuizen and director Corina van Eijk.
Francis van Broekhuizen interprets the three main roles. She switches from one role to the other with ease and presents all by herself the psychological and physical struggle between the two men and the woman in this world-famous work.
A huge dose of humor renders the opera accessible to young and old and to opera newcomer and opera fan alike.

´Frances van Broekhuizen plays the three roles in the work with verve. She shifts easily between roles and in addition infuses the whole with a huge dose of humor, at times splendidly dry humor. All by herself she presents a glorious physical struggle between a man and a woman. The jokes are sharp-witted, the singing is beautiful and the piano accompaniment is perfectly executed by Caterina Galiotto, who also plays the composer Puccini.´
